With decades of experience as educators and a deep love for crafting spaces that feel 'truly yours,' we’re here to make DIY approachable, inspiring, and rewarding.

WE ARE PGH DIY

We’re Sarah and Vince, a husband-and-wife team from Pittsburgh, PA.

With a lifelong love of DIY (that’s Vince) and a newfound passion for the creative life (that’s Sarah), we bring together decades of hands-on experience and over 45 years of teaching expertise. Our journey as public school educators taught us how to inspire, guide, and make learning approachable—and now we’re here to do the same for you.

Wherever you are on your creative path, we’re here to cheer you on, share what we’ve learned, and help you turn your ideas into something amazing.

WHY 'PGH?'

'PGH' is common shorthand for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It’s a nod to the place that has shaped who we are and how we approach life. As lifelong Pittsburghers, we’re proud to call this city home.

From its industrial roots as the steel capital of the world to its transformation into a hub for innovation, education, and the arts, 'The Burgh' embraces change with grit and grace. That resilience inspires everything we do.

Loyalty, creativity, and hard-working spirit define 'The Steel City', and our friendly neighborhoods brim with character and charm.

Over the past 20 years, we’ve been fortunate to renovate four homes here. Just like our hometown, we believe in blending tradition with creativity, perseverance with vision, and passion with purpose.

PGH DIY is our way of sharing that spirit with you.

SARAH'S STORY

Reluctant Renovator to Creative Enthusiast

At first, Sarah was hesitant about diving into the world of DIY and home renovation. The mess, the uncertainty, the endless decisions—it was all too much. But over time, something unexpected happened: she fell in love with the process.

Newly converted to creativity, Sarah embraced the 'Do-It-Yourself' life with relentless enthusiasm. Each project became an opportunity to learn, grow, and transform not just spaces, but herself.

“I believe everyone has a DIY-er inside them,” Sarah says. “Sometimes, all it takes is a little guidance and encouragement to bring that inner creator to life.”

Watching someone create something they’re proud of blends her two greatest passions: teaching and creating. For Sarah, there’s nothing better than empowering others to achieve what they never thought possible.

VINCE'S JOURNEY

A Life Built on Creativity and DIY Spirit

For Vince, DIY isn’t just a skill—it’s in his DNA. Growing up in a home where his parents were serial renovators, he watched them double the size of their home through countless DIY projects, turning ideas into reality with hard work and determination. It was there that Vince developed his “can-do” philosophy, a mindset that fuels every aspect of his life.

Vince has spent his life as a visual arts teacher, inspiring creativity in others. These skills blend seamlessly with his ever-expanding DIY and home renovation expertise.

Whether it’s designing a space in SketchUp, crafting a new project, or tackling a renovation, Vince brings boundless energy, artistic vision, and a teacher’s heart to everything he does.
